Scoil Bhríde Vs St Patrick’s Diswellstown
20th September 2016
Reigning Champions Scoil Bhríde Boys got their 2016 GAA campaign off to a great start with a well-earned win over St Patrick’s Diswellstown in Somerton on Tuesday.
With a number of young debutants lining out for Scoil Bhríde it was sure to be an exciting tussle. St Patrick’s started off strongly with a few well worked goals and points leaving them with a 5 point lead going into halftime. That lead could have been a lot more, had it not been for the heroics of Ron Joy minding the nets for SBB. SBB went into the break with a huge mountain to climb as St Patrick’s were well in control.
After the break however, SBB came out all guns blazing. With a completely changed attitude and a few tweaks in formation, It didn’t take them long to reduce the 5 point deficit displaying great determination and excellent support play throughout the second half. Some of the younger players such as Jimmy Dunlea showed great bravery in defence while Leon Burns exhibited coolness in front of goals to ensure SBB were firmly back in the game. Senior members of the team really stood up to the plate after the half timewhistle. Players like Alex and Julius ran the opposition’s defence ragged while Cian Gannon was absolutely ferocious in every tackle he made. SBB fought hard and showed off great skills to produce a huge comeback against a dogged St Patrick’s Team. SBB ran out eventual winners in the end after a tough battle. This encounter will surely stand to the lads in their future quest for back to back titles.
The boys will look to continue with their winning ways against St Luke’s this coming Tuesday in CCC with a throw in time of 3pm. All support welcome J SBBAbú
